Sherman & Howard provides new attorneys with a supportive environment, characterized by a culture that goes to great lengths in promoting retention and career development.

Individual Associate Training - Upon arrival, new associates are assigned mentors available for advice and counsel on firm policies and processes, particularly involving work assignments and the evaluation process. These mentors are committed to guiding new attorneys through their first two years at Sherman & Howard, easing their transition into the practice of law.

Firm-wide Associate Training - Each month, associates are invited to attend a general education session covering a broad range of topics, from administrative procedures to networking skills and everything in between. At the end of each fiscal year, the Firm's Chief Executive also convenes the Firm's associates to summarize the performance over the previous year and the business plan moving forward.

Department-Level Training - The attorneys at Sherman & Howard are committed to being at the forefront of legal developments and trends that affect our clients and their businesses. Each practice group meets separately and in coordination with complementary practice groups for training and discussion of breaking legal issues.

Professional Training - Our attorneys regularly participate in industry and professional seminars and conferences that examine the most up-to-date legal developments. The Firm covers costs associated with these approved continuing legal education and client service programs as well as industry organization's events and activities.

NITA - Sherman & Howard offers additional formal development opportunities through participation in programs offered by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. These intensive training programs include advanced deposition skills, advanced negotiation/mediation, and the two-week National Trial Session.
