Skip Smith Elected to Board of Directors of the International Institute of Space LawNovember 6, 2012 - Sherman & Howard attorney Milton "Skip" Smith was recently elected to the International Institute of Space Law (IISL) Board of Directors at their annual meeting in Naples, Italy. Mr. Smith joins fifteen other space industry leaders and lawyers from around the world on the Board. Skip Smith is a Member in Sherman & Howard's Colorado Springs office, where he serves as Co-Chair of the Firm's Space Law Practice Group and is on the Government Contracts Practice Group team. He represents a variety of launch service companies, manufacturers, and other aerospace and government contract companies. Skip has held other space law leadership positions including Director of Space Law at Space Command and Chief of Space Law at the Pentagon's Air Force Headquarters. He also served in Geneva as Legal Advisor of the U.S. Delegation at the ITU Conference on the Geostationary Satellite Orbit. Skip is an adjunct professor of space law at the University of Colorado Law School, and has authored a number of leading publications, including his book International Regulation of Satellite Communication. Skip is a former Chair of the Colorado Space Business Roundtable and the Aerospace Law Committee of the American Bar Association. He received degrees from the USAF Academy (BS), George Washington University Law School (JD) and McGill University Institute of Air & Space Law (LLM and Doctorate).
